Markings of the US Navy

- Escort Carriers June 2nd To Aug. 1945 -

As told in Markings I by order of the Commander Air Force Pacifi (ComAirPac) dating June 2nd 1945 all squadron invented tail markings were to be supplanted by a system based on escort carriers assigned to carrier divisions 22 to 29 (see page marking system explained).

 

Actual photos were used to make the  following paintings as accurate as possible.  Sorted in alphabetical order.

"AG" = Air Group, "VC" = Composite Squadron, "MCVG" = Marine Carrier Air Group

Two vertical bars on vertical tail: Marking of Escort Carrier Division 25
Two oblique white stripes:: Marking of CVE-72 Tulagi within CarDiv 25
"N63": Marking of former land base (a leftover)
"665": Intermediate transport number
